Screening! Street Team

Hey all!

Doing anything tomorrow night (Monday, 26th)?  My documentary film, The ArtPrize Experience, will be screened (FREE) at the Sand Lake KDL library @6:30PM.  I know that this is during ArtPrize, but if you go, I'm sure you'll come away with a greater feeling for what goes on during this 19 day competition.

Here's a link to the Sand Lake library.  And here's a link to a map.

In other news, which I've talked about on Twitter, I'm a member of the 2011 ArtPrize Street Team!  So I've been downtown GR helping people sign up for voting, giving directions, etc.  I'll be working this Tuesday and Wednesday, so come down and say hello!

That's it for now, I hope to see you at the screening in Sand Lake!

DVD for Sale!

Hey all! Good news!

Today we shipped out the DVD's of 'The ArtPrize Experience' to artists and sponsors, so now we're opening it up for purchase.  I'm really excited about this, and I hope you are too.

The film costs $10 (plus 5 for shipping), not bad!  I hope you'll buy a copy, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!  The PayPal button is on the top right corner of the blog, and at the bottom of this blog post.

If you don't know what the film is yet, here's a summary!

ʻThe ArtPrize Experienceʼ is a documentary film about the 2010 ArtPrize Competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan. ArtPrize is the worldʼs largest arts competition, awarding over $450,000 is prize money to artists of any medium, and is decided by public vote. The annual event was founded in 2009. In its second year, Sam Klee followed four artists from West Michigan (Matthew Hutchinson, Debra Reid Jenkins, David Huang, Pete Fecteau) throughout the competition, covering their progress and learning their stories. From painting to Rubikʼs Cubes, the artists represent a wide variety in style and medium. They prove that art is not limited by material, but enhanced by variety. In addition to gaining the artistsʼ perspectives, the film attempts to grasp what lasting effect the competition has had on the city of Grand Rapids, and the arts community in general.

Anyways, I hope you'll consider purchasing a copy, the proceeds will go towards funding my future film projects!

Thanks again!

Radio Appearance!

Hey all!

A couple weeks ago I was on Rick Tormala's radio show to discuss my ArtPrize film!  Here's the link!

We discussed the film, ArtPrize, art in general, among other things!  The portion where I talk starts about 30 minutes in, and goes for about 30 minutes.  Enjoy!

Also, I have a bit of cool ArtPrize-related news to tell, but it actually has to wait a few days.....but I'll let ya know as soon as I'm at liberty to do so.  ;)  In the meantime, take a listen to the radio appearance!
