Lost has happened since the last time I posted on here...both personally and with the ArtPrize film. I took the SAT (can't wait for the scores!), and my film has won an 'Award of Excellence' from the DAFT Michigan Student Film Festival, as well as Best Documentary from the Richmond (Indiana) Art Museum's student film festival, both of which were on April 30th. Here are some pics of the trophy I won from Richmond!!
Anyways, I wasn't able to go to Richmond for the festival, but I received some very nice feedback from the festival and attendees. As for future screenings, I was notified last week that the short 'ArtPrize Effect' had been selected for screening in the 'Shortie Awards' film festival in Virginia. This is a really great opportunity, as the winner of the 15-18 Documentary category gets his/her film screened at the SilverDocs Film Festival in Silver Spring, MD. This film festival is HUGE, with big-name documentary films screened there every year. If my film wins at Shortie, which would be an accomplishment in itself, then gets screened at SilverDocs, I'm not sure what I'll do!! The Shortie film fest is May 27-29. The SilverDocs festival is one month later, June 20-26. So, this will be an interesting month ahead!
The feature film is still in its long editing process, mostly because I've been hitting the books with school, trying to finish up Junior year. But, despite the fact that it's still being worked on, the feature film has made great strides! I'm going to save a detailed post on the feature's progress for later, but it is looking quite good.
That's all I've got for ya tonight! Longer post will come (soon, I hope) with some good news on the feature film. Also, that quirky video with the planets and such? I'll get that up in the next week or so. ;)
God bless, guys!
